A passion for our community

In a time rife with racial turmoil and protest with accusations of brutality and abuse towards the native community, Dennis Bacoch stepped up to create a difference for his community.

Experience

35 years of public service with the Inyo County Sheriffs department in multiple command positions including jail, patrol, and SWAT commands as a lieutenant, the third highest rank in the department.

Integrity

Created an environment of fair and equal access for native grievances and problems.
Will continue to provide a fair and honest service to the people of the Big Pine tribe.

Family Values

Big Pine Shoshone/Paiute born to parents John Bacoch Jr. and Aileen Stewart here in the Owens Valley, where he would later raise his three children.

Tribal Elder

History of care and passion for tribal affairs, including working at the Big Pine Wellness center to promote health among tribal members.

Community building

Worked closely with tribal focused inmate programs such as Tu-nee-wa Novee head start program

Diligent

Consistent drive to improve, seeking law enforcement training in areas lacking in the valley, Police academy, EOD, SWAT.
